Last Sunday was the 45th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday. I think that it is crazy what happened to the people. They stated that the people were ran over by cars and hit with night sticks. These people were not doing anything that was going to harm others by having a march. All that they wanted to do was have the people hear what they had to say. They had no weapons on them they just wanted a peaceful protest. When I think about it, its crazy what these people had to do for us to be able to vote. The discrimination against these people was not needed. I believe that people should always put there selves into other people shoes. Would the people that did the harm to these people like it if the same thing happened to them.
When you think about it we have come a very long way. Everyone is able to vote as long as they are the age. If you walk into a class room you see all types of races attending the same school. We even have our first ever black president. Some times we will think that we have not come too far, but when you really think about it we have come very far. All races are able to vote and laws equal for each race. There is no law just for blacks or white or Puerto Ricans everyone is equal under the law.

SOTA's Mission Statement
School of The Arts Mission Statement: OUR MISSION IS STUDENT SUCCESS... ACADEMIC, ARTISTIC, AND HUMANISTIC.
Is School of The Arts really fulfilling their mission statement? Our students are very successful when it comes to academics. Most of the teachers really care about their students and they want us to do good. Our academics at SOTA consists of math, english, science ,social studiesand a language. Languages that students can study are french, latin and spanish. With providing a form of language to study it can give students better help when it comes to them being able to apply for a job. A person that is able to speak more than one language is better qualified for the furture.
Our school helps students be successful artistically. We are an arts school. The majors provided are creative writing, dance, drama, theater technology, vocal and instrumental. These are majors that students choose from. Students that attend this school must part take in one of these classes. These art classes hold back many students from graduating. When it comes to SOTA art is a way of expessing ones self. Arts can help students open up and associate with people that like the same hobby as you.
I do not think that SOTA helps students be successful humanisticly. Humanistic is when aspects of human intrest and values are the center of life. If one were to spend a day at our school they will find this out. Yes, our school is not a school that has fights everyday, but students are not respectful to one another. Students think that other students are different for what their values are. SOTA staff does not always respect their students belifes or their values. Not all people have the same values so it can be difficult to accept others for what they believe. I think that SOTA has a long way to go in order to have success humanisticly. But there is no reason to think bad though if all the students would come together and wanted to see change in there school then we could most definatlly be a success in humanistic. If our school is not willing to change and accept their peers values then I think that we are going to need to go back to the drawing bord and think about our missions statement. The only way that we would be able to do this, is if our elders show us the right things to do. It wont hurt if we try. If we want this to be our missions statement then we need to look around and see what we are doing that is wrong and try to fix it. Nothing is impossible if we just believe in what we say and accept eachother for who we are.

What I Spend Money On
The bell has just rung school is over the weekend has came, thank god. I walk out the big glass doors to outside the soon to be spring air comes upon me. I am ready to leave school, and have a great weekend. My mom picks up my brother and I and we are on our way to Wegmans to pick up our checks. Oh yes our checks, you know what that mean money, money, money. Hey when you are 16 what expenses do you have? none really right? None, you can put some in the bank, but there are weekend that you can treat your self to something nice, right? Yes. I arrive to Wegmans and pick up my check, I open it and there is a hundred dollars there for you to spend. Well it is the weekend so you really don't have to do anything. My brother looks at me and suggests the mall. I mean why not right. I have my money in my pocket and I am thinking about what stores I would like to go to and what I want to buy. I make up my game plan for what I am going to buy.
I arrive to the mall with my brother and we think about where we want to go first. The clothes in the mall just have a way of talking to you for some odd reason. It is as if they want you to buy them.They just have a way of telling you how cute you would look in something. It is as if they say:
" It is okay you can afford me. I am on sale too, so why not right. I mean what harm am I to you?" You think to yourself should I do it, it is really cute and I can wear it to school or church. I always think of where I can wear this outfit is it something that I will just wear to church or to school. When it is an outfit that you can wear anywhere it is even better reason to buy the outfit. Then you buy the outfit, it is like one of the best feelings to me to buy an outfit. Yeah you do hurt because then you don't have that money anymore,but when you put that outfit on for the first time you just know that it was all well worth the money that you spent for it. You keep looking around in the mall and you come across Aeropostale and I love to buy hoodies and sweat pant from there and there clothes always have a way of talking to me. For some reason with this store I always seem to leave with a bag in my hand.
Every weekend I might go to the mall,but you have to make sure that you save some money too. You should always save money for that rainy day. If you work hard for your money then you should be able to treat you self at times.
